Rainbow Trout Fishing Trip

At Kenauk Nature, rainbow trout fishing takes place on private, stocked lakes tucked deep within the reserve — just 90 minutes from Montreal and Ottawa. Here, the water is pristine, the shorelines are yours alone, and the only sound is the line cutting through still air. Each licence holder is entitled to a quota of five trout. A rod, a private lake, and a fish that fights back: that’s a rare thing in the Outaouais.

Brook Trout Fishing Trip

At Kenauk Nature, brook trout fishing unfolds on private, stocked lakes hidden within the heart of the reserve. Less than 90 minutes from Montreal and Ottawa, your experience begins the moment you arrive at your waterfront chalet — surrounded by acres of true wilderness. Each licence holder is entitled to a quota of five trout. Discover our chalets right here:

Lake Trout Fishing Trip

At Kenauk Nature, lake trout fishing is centred on Lake Papineau, 14 km² of deep, open water at the heart of the reserve. A native and demanding species, lake trout require patience and experience. Seasoned anglers are welcome to head out on their own, but we recommend a guided fishing day at the start of your stay to get familiar with the lake and learn where the fish like to hang. Lake trout are strictly catch-and-release here — a commitment to protecting this native species for generations to come. Chalets in this area also offer access to bass fishing in season.

Multi-Species Fishing Trip

At Kenauk Nature, certain chalets open the door to multi-species fishing — a chance to mix things up and chase a different challenge each day. At Pines and Muskrat chalets, you’ll target smallmouth and largemouth bass alongside pike, all on a catch-and-release basis. Other chalets overlook Lake Papineau, where bass share the water with lake trout. There, lake trout are catch-and-release, while bass may be kept in accordance with provincial regulations. The ideal choice for the versatile angler.

Plan your fishing trip

Guided Fishing Option: Having a guide allows you to access exclusive areas, such as catch & release trophy lakes! An undeniable advantage, not to mention the secrets and stories that will be shared with you. Find your guide.

Equipement : On-site, you will find a full range of equipment, boats, and fishing gear for individuals or groups (booking required $). Our electric motors are allowed on all lakes except Lake Papineau, where gas-powered motors are provided. No external boats will be permitted within the reserve. To prevent the spread of invasive species in our pristine waters, electric motors brought from outside Kenauk are not allowed. Each of our lakes has a dedicated fleet of boats and motors.

Season: From ice melt (late April) to the end of October.

Stocking: Kenauk has natural lakes with native fish, as well as stocked lakes with rainbow and brook trout from our fish hatchery.

Management: Electric motors are allowed on all lakes, but gas-powered motors are only permitted on Lake Papineau. Some lakes have mandatory catch-and-release policies to maintain healthy fish populations, while others are stocked, where fishing quotas apply. We also have lakes and rivers exclusively dedicated to fly fishing.
