Angler’s Paradise: A Closer Look at Kenauk’s Fish Species and Lakes

Kenauk’s pristine lakes are home to a variety of coveted fish species, including Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, Lake Trout, Bass (both Smallmouth and Largemouth), and Pike, providing an exhilarating angling experience for all. 

Our guides cater to both fly fishers and spinning anglers, ensuring a personalized approach that suits your preferred fishing style. While some lakes are exclusively designated for fly fishing with single barbless hooks, our guides are dedicated to helping you catch the fish of a lifetime! 

What to expect

Arrival

At Kenauk, we want to ensure that you have a seamless and timely fishing experience. Travel time from our reception office to the lakes across our property can take up to 30 minutes, depending on the specific lake you’ll be fishing at. To accommodate this, we kindly request that clients arrive at our reception 30 minutes prior to their scheduled guided fishing excursion. 

Our reception office operates from 7 AM to 5 PM every day, allowing ample time for you to check in, gather any necessary information, and reach your designated lake comfortably before your scheduled fishing session. We prioritize punctuality to maximize your time on the water, so please plan accordingly and arrive at reception on time to kick-start your unforgettable fishing adventure at Kenauk. 

 

What to expect on your guided fishing trip:

  • Expertise and Knowledge: Guides bring their extensive knowledge of fishing techniques, local waters, and target fish species to enhance your fishing experience. 
  • Personalized Experience: Guides tailor the trip to your skill level, preferences, and goals, ensuring a personalized and enjoyable fishing adventure. 
  • Instruction and Guidance: They provide instructions on casting, baiting, and reeling techniques, helping you improve your angling skills and increase your chances of success. 
  • Equipment and Gear: Our guides supply all necessary fishing equipment, including rods, reels, lines, lures, and flies, ensuring you have the right tools for the job. 
  • Boats: Our guides prepare each fishing boat fully equipped for a day on the water. This includes a powered motorboat on Lake Papineau or an electrically powered boat on our smaller, private lakes. 
  • Access to Exclusive Spots: Our guides have in-depth knowledge of the area and will take you to their secret spots, maximizing your chances of catching fish. 
  • Local Regulations: Our guides are well informed of Kenauk’s fishing regulations, limits, and licensing requirements to ensure your compliance with local laws and conservation efforts. 
  • Fish Handling and Cleaning: They assist with handling and releasing fish properly to minimize stress on the fish. When regulations permit, they can clean the fish for you to take home. Please note that clients are responsible for their catch after the guides have prepared their catch for transport. 
  • Educational Insights: Guides often share information about the local ecosystem, wildlife, and natural surroundings, enriching your understanding of the environment. 

How to prepare & Rates

Here’s a list of suggested items that clients can bring to be prepared for a day of fishing:

  •  Fishing License: It is the responsibility of the client to posess a valid fishing license for the province of Quebec before going on a guided fishing excursion. Buy it here.
  • Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Dress in layers to accommodate changing weather conditions. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection. 
  • Rain Gear: Be prepared for unexpected rain showers by bringing a lightweight and waterproof jacket or poncho. Comfortable Shoes: Opt for sturdy, non-slip footwear suitable for walking on various terrains.
  • Snacks and Water: Pack plenty of snacks and drinking water to stay hydrated and energized throughout the day. 
  • Personal Medications: If you have any specific medications or medical needs, carry them with you in a secure and accessible place. 
  • Camera or Phone: Capture the memorable moments and the stunning scenery with a camera or smartphone. 
  • Personal Items: Carry essentials such as identification, cash, and any other personal items you may need. 
  • Cooler or Insulated Bag: If you plan to keep any caught fish, bring a cooler or insulated bag with ice to ensure freshness. 

 

Half-Day – Guided Fishing (4 hours)

  • $349.99 – Maximum of 2 anglers per boat (3 persons total, including the guide). Fishing rights needs to be purchased for daily anglers. 

Full-Day – Guided Fishing (8 hours)

  • $449.99 – Maximum of 2 anglers per boat (3 persons total, including the guide). Fishing rights needs to be purchased for daily anglers.
