Kenauk Expands Its Electric Fleet to Support Conservation Efforts
At Kenauk, conservation is not a statement, it is a practice that shapes how the property is managed every day. From land stewardship to guest experience, every operational decision is made with long-term environmental integrity in mind.
This winter, Kenauk is proud to introduce two new electric vehicles to its operations: an electric snowmobile and an electric side-by-side ATV. These additions mark another concrete step in reducing our environmental footprint while maintaining safe and efficient access across the territory.
Why Electric Vehicles Matter at Kenauk
Operating on more than 65,000 acres (260 square kms) of protected land, Kenauk Nature relies on vehicles year-round to support essential activities such as maintenance, housekeeping, and guest services. Transitioning to electric alternatives allows us to significantly reduce noise pollution, emissions, and overall disturbance to sensitive ecosystems.
Quieter transportation not only benefits wildlife but also enhances the experience of guests seeking immersion in nature and supports staff who work daily across the property.
Reducing Noise Pollution, Supporting Research
Electric mobility also plays a key role in supporting the work of the Kenauk Institute, whose research projects and data collection stations are often located near vehicle-accessible routes. Reduced noise and emissions help protect the integrity of ongoing studies and minimize disruption to surrounding habitats.
This initiative strengthens the connection between Kenauk Nature and its sister entity, ensuring that conservation efforts are informed, measured, and continuously improved.
A Shared Commitment to Keeping Kenauk Wild
The adoption of electric vehicles reflects a broader, shared commitment across all Kenauk entities to preserve the land responsibly. Each technological, operational, or educational step taken contributes to the long-term goal of keeping Kenauk wild for future generations.
Kenauk Nature extends its sincere thanks to the Ministère du Tourisme du Québec for its support in making this initiative possible.
