Making Black Friday greener : a chalet stay with a purpose! 🌿
This year Kenauk Nature donated $25 to the Kenauk Institute for every booking made during the Black Friday sale. During this sale event, our visitors were able to get preferred pricing on their chalet stays, but also to contribute directly to our conservation mission.
With the amount donated, the Kenauk Institute will be able to continue funding educational groups that allow students to get out of the classroom and experience nature, all while learning about ecology, the environment, and natural sciences. One such program is the Jr Internship Program, whereby high school students spend a week on the property shadowing university researchers to get hands-on experience with experimental design, collecting data, and running a research project.
In addition, the Kenauk Institute aims to support, coordinate, and supervise scientific research on a wide variety of topics, such as hydrology, environmental biology, and climate change studies. These donations will be used to continue to support these researchers. Conducted yearly, the loon nesting project is a Kenauk Institute staple, with researchers spending time identifying loon pairs and nesting sites on Lake Papineau. By cataloguing loon territories, the Kenauk Institute can then make informed decisions on water traffic to reduce human impacts on the nesting sites.
A big thank you to everyone who participated in this Black Friday sale!
